September 2012 gift portrait

It's been a while but I did finish a gift portrait in September and I am 1/3 done with 3 more. I received permission to share the September portrait. It is acrylic, started out as a pastel but didn't work out so re-did all in acrylic.
I hope I'll have permission to post the next 3, if so they will be up around the end of October.

Finally finished another portrait. I am so thankful that the parents are allowing me to post this publicly. It has been a blessing to be able to do this. I thank God that I am learning so much with this new process. I had to crop the photo by the ear to remove the non-painting background, I am still working on removing the faulty distortions. I've got the colors more correct this time with the photo, though of course the actual painting is much more vivid. I believe I really captured the heart of this special young man, he has been such a blessing to all who know him. Medium: Acrylics. Size: estimate 11 x 16

Martin Luther King Jr drawing

Finally completed a drawing of Martin Luther King Jr that I started in late Jan 2012, this is from a "public domain" image of a still from newsreal of a speech he was making at a university. The Bible verse may not be easy to read(English and Spanish)but it is Act 17: 26-27(KJV "And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:) which I believe speaks of what he aspired. I completed it March 8 and delivered it to a nice young man in my Bible Art Class, who requested a drawing of MLKjr. He was smiling ear to ear when he received it March 8th.
The reason it took so long inbetween was that I had to do some other things and to reset my priorities of enjoying the process more than being concerned about the end product. So I went back to basics and played. Play is an area of my life I let go too easily, then I suffer the distress of too much intensity in my life which shuts me down. God is working a new work in my life and I am so thankful for His guidance through Jesus Christ. I've been able to do more in the last week than I have in the last 9weeks. So I will continue to play. Playing with a new major project that I will not be able to share until mid July since it has to stay "anonymous" until then. I do plan to play in other projects so hopefully I'll be posting some of them between then and now.

Art House Sketchbook 2012 completed & sent

Completed and sent my Art House Sketchbook project Jan 20th. My title is "Writing on the Wall". I thought it was going to be one way but as I progressed doing it with God's guidance it became more than I ever imagined. It is not my regular way of doing my art, lots of experimently techniques and the message in it has so many levels, for me so far God the Father has shown me 4 levels of messages that it could be communicating. I will not mention those because I want God to reach out to whom ever in what ever way He wants to communicate His message. Like I wrote above it is not my traditional way of doing things so it might be a bit shocking, it was for me but I knew I needed to be obedient to the guidance God was giving me as I went along. I would appreciate any comments about what it communicates to you. Thank you
