New painting series: "Quilter's Hands"

Finished these paintings over the last 2 weeks. I have more to paint in this series but I have some other painting projects I want to finish first and possibly use a different medium in the next part of the series. These 2 I used Acrylic under painting, oil bar Paint sticks and some color pencil. The second picture does not show the teal color in the clothing and I couldn't get my scanner program to get it correct unless it changed all the other colors. The quilt color in the 2nd painting is, also, more purple than blue, again scanner program could not get it correct. But at least it does show what I've partly been up to recently. These 2 paintings are schedules as gifts.

Hi Victoria, Love your "hand quilting" paintings! The hands are just great! I like the soft edge you have given them. Nice!

Victoria, your paintings are w o n d e r f u l! I wonder how you can get such fine details with these big oil sticks? I would like to try them, too, but I'm not sure if I can handle them...

Thank you Claudia for stopping by and taking a look. For the oil bars I use q-tips, my fingers and try to angle and just dot then blend. Details are very difficult. I do add in a tiny bit of color pencil sometime but they sometimes take off paint instead of adding. I try to use large areas in the 9"x12" area so I can work large. I do believe if I wanted to do a portrait using them I'd have to work on a very large canvas.
