Here is my entry for the Virtual Sketch date for April. Used Oil bars and had fun playing with it. Decided to shift the flowers over to the left instead of in the center like the photo model. Below is the photo model. Virtual Sketch Date address: http://virtualsketchdate.blogspot.com/ to see all the other entries and to join in.
I would love to be able to paint flowers as vividly as the photos, I have problems with the translucent quality of flowers. Anyway it was fun and a good exercise to get back into painting after a long break.

Soft and scrumptious! Lovely.
This is beautiful. I looked at the enlargement of it and was even more amazed.
Love the soft look of this and the new composition!
Thank you Peggy, bluelilac, BMoon, and Debbie for your kind encouraging comments. I am blown away by your comments. Thank you so much. CnJ
Thank you Paulette for your kind generous comment your comment is truly appreciated.
Hi Victoria, I love it, it is beautifully balanced, much more so than the original. I think its awesome.
Thank you Dawn for your wonderful comment. So glad you enjoyed it.
Magistral work in difficult technique (at least for me).
You did a really nice work.
Congratulations!
Looks like a Monet!
I love the colours in this, you've made it so soft and I agree, better than the photo.
This has a real "Monet" feel. Beautiful!
Thank you ego2005,leslie,Jeanette and Carol for your kind encouraging comments. When I was in the middle of painting this one I told my husband this one looks more impressionistic than others I've done. Monet, though, was able to get that translucent look in flowers(seen his flowers close up at a museum exhibition)that I'd love to be able to get, but I am thankful for what has come out of this painting.
Lovely composition and colours. Gorgeous painting. Soft. Beautiful.
Hey Victoria! This one is grand! Love the edges and your composition switch is perfect. Nice to see you're posting your painting again!
Thank you Lori for you kind comment.
Thank you Pattie for great comments too, it is good to hear from you. Yes, it has been a long while since I last posted anything and I am glad to be back at it.
this does have a very Monet quality to it :) it is wonderfully done, very soft looking :)
So soft and yet sunlit. Lovely composition.
Thank you Jennifer Rose and Sydney for you kind and encouraging comments.
Your painting is - in my opinion - one of the best interpretations of the VSD! Congratulations!
P.S.: Which oil bars did you use (which brand)?
Thank you Claudia for your kind and encouraging comment. I used Shiva Artist's Paint Stiks.
Hi Victoria, VSD painting is lovey. Oil bars? I am amazed at your studio, especially since you live in Japan? It's like your own personal wonderland. Lucky you
Your painting is so beautiful. Also, I have a crush on your studio.
Thank you shicat for your kind comment. I'm glad you stopped by long enough to view my studio photos. Yes, I count myself very blessed by God for such a wonderful private space. It is a prefab building we and the bank own together until it is paid off in about 5 more years. Yes, I live in Japan but the southern most prefecture, Okinawa, it is on my mother-in-law's leased land over the drive way to the house she owns. She is permanently in a hospital care facility due to a debilitating brain stroke she suffered over 5 almost 6 years ago. We are living in her house and take care of it and her needs.
Thank you to you too Carol O for your kind comment and taking the time to visit my studio photos. I thank God for this studio, it definitely was a gift from God.
Your picture is beautiful, loved your soft colours.
I think your studio is lovely.
