Christmas 2011 painting completed!

Praise Lord God! I completed my Christmas painting! I still need to mount it up onto a wooden frame support and varnish it. I took a photo before the varnish since it seems to photograph better before than afterwards. I was able to order my Christmas postcards tonight too!!! Better late than never! I learned so many new things doing this painting and I learned I have a lot more to learn too, esp about color, color value and relationships of light and shadow. Also learned I do not like to paint small so my 1st try on this painting took 2 months on a smaller version(estimated size: 8 1/2" x 10 1/2")then I dropped it and started over on a much larger version(25" x 32 1/2"), but I learned what works for me so it was very useful having put in the time doing the smaller version. Had to crop some of the edges due to parellex in the photo(still learning, I believe the colors are truer to the original than others I've taken before)but it does not take anything of significance away. This painting is painted all in acrylics. I hope who ever stops by will enjoy it. Thank you.

Hey - looks wonderful! Must be the same little angels that are in your sidebar, only growing up? The colors are wonderful - Happy Holidays!

Yes, Pattie, you are absolute correct, it is the 2 little angels I did last year but grown more! Thank you so much for your wonderful encouraging comments!
Suzanne, thank you also for your kind words of encouragement. This is truly a wonderful Christmas time. Praying you both have great holiday times too.

Hi again Victoria,
The second I saw your work, I knew I had seen it before. I wondered where, until I saw that you are on League of Christian Artists....small world! I love your sweet portraits of children!! I am working currently on a portait of my father and his best friend. Dad is over 80 and his friend is in his seventies, I think. It has been a bit challenging but fun! I will look forward to seeing more of your work in the coming year. By the way, if you are looking for a good webhost, I would highly recommend Fine Arts Studio on line. If you contact them and tell them that I told you about them, I think they will give you 3 free months of service. I also think the man that runs the company, Clint Watson is a Christian. I have a number that people have used in the past to get the free service, I think it was 8388, but I am not certain. Some of the tech people know me quite well, so they might be willing to tell you my number. Let me know if it works out for you. The tech support is the best, plus it is super easy to set the site up how you want it. I just love using it! Take care and happy new year!!
